Husband and Wife owned Properties

Live Off-Campus Affordably!

Dolores and Larry are co-owners of LDS Properties. They bought their first rental property in 2003 in anticipation of their three boys attending UConn. Larry is now retired but was a UConn professor for 31 years. Dolores is a retired phlebotomist. Our rental business has always been a ‘mom and pop’ side hustle.

Nurturing & cultivating

Relationships that Last

Over the years we realized that not only was the rental property business a good investment, but that we enjoyed fixing up the properties and renting them at reasonable rates, mostly to UConn students. As it turns out, two of our three boys did live in these rental properties, but they have long since grown up and moved away.

As the years went by, we acquired three additional properties and decided to fold them into an LLC. Almost all of the revenues from this venture are rolled back into the properties for renovations, upkeep, property insurance, taxes etc. We try to select hard-working, respectful tenants who appreciate having ‘hands-on’ landlords who keep their properties in excellent condition and respond quickly to problems (like plumbing leaks!).

Always available by text/email, we love hearing from current and past tenants as they move toward future careers and interesting adventures. Almost all of our tenants have great experiences while living in our properties, and many leave comments and testimonials for prospective tenants to consider while shopping for a place to live.

We emphasize to our tenants that our properties are embedded in the local community and stress the importance of keeping the properties neat while respecting their neighbors, especially with regards to parking, refuse, noise and other ‘hot-button’ (so-called ‘town-gown’) issues. We also love getting to know the parents of our tenants since they too want to make sure their kids have safe and comfortable living conditions.

Convenient Locations

For UCONN Students, Faculty & Staff

We work hard to be the exception to the commonly held notion that college kids are a nuisance; a bane to quiet, rural communities. Not true! Your rent payments help us pay property taxes which underpin the financial fitness of local towns, and over the years our tenants learn what it means to live harmoniously in a community. When all is said and done, we work for a ‘win-win-win’ involving the town, the owners, and our tenants.
